A death in the family.

It is with great sadness (on Jim's part) that we announce the death of beloved pet mouse, Mr. Squeakers. Mr. Squeakers was rescued from a barn by Jim Kluth on Thursday last and was hand fed and loved greatly by Jim and Evan. Aidan was neutral and Tara was against the idea from the beginning. Anyway, we buried him in the backyard this evening.

Tara, that is just so sad. I am sorry to hear the news. Please give my condolences to Jim and Evan.

When my brother was little, he found a couple of baby rabbits. At that time, folks thought that if you picked up the rabbits or anything like that, the mother wouldn't have anything to do with them. So he and my dad took care of them for one night.

The next morning when Mikey got up, he asked where his rabbits were. They had died during the night. When my dad told him, he cried and said, "But I just wanted to pet them!"

Oh, one more thing. I think it would be neat if your site would play "Tara's Theme" when people clicked on it!

Thanks for the idea! If I figure out how to make it do that I'll consider it...

My condolences. Jim must be all torn up. When did y'all name him?

Evan sort of named him on the Thursday we got him.

I considered it a real victory that he lived from Thursday to Monday. He was probably less than two weeks old, and we (read I) fed him from a dropper.

Back to the funeral/burial: I was once told that you should bury your fish (and I would think this would also go for mice) in a metal box, so that neighborhood cats won't smell it and dig up a snack. Our non-dog animals usually got/get above-ground burials, in a cylinderical mauseleum. (Don't go correcting my spelling, now--it isn't worth it)

But, Tooz. My fingers are itching to rewrite "cylindrical mausoleum" for you. But since I'm not allowed, I won't do it. LOL!

Sorry about Mr. Squeakers! That is a great name for a mouse. When I was about 9, I had a stuffed mouse named Mr. Squeakers. He was given to me when I was at UK children's hospital. The mouse was about the size of your average 16 month old baby! In fact, Mr. Squeakers now belongs to my son, I believe.
