For Toby's birthday we got him some real tools. We got him wrenches, screwdrivers, nuts and bolts, paintbrushes and a scraper. We also got him some lengths of galvanized pipe with elbow joints, couplers and some other stuff he can put together and take apart.
In the past couple of days Aidan and Evan have been forming the galvanized pipes and elbows into guns. Now, some parents would freak out and ban the guns. I've seen little boys turn Barbie dolls, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and graham crackers into guns so I figured that even if I banned the galvanized steel I would end up with weapons. So, I put some boundaries in place for the guns. The boys spent the evening in their bedroom putting stuffed animals "stuffies" all around their room and hunting down the stuffies.
So, rest assured. We are now safe from the teddy bears and sock monkeys.

That is so true about the guns- you just can't stop them from pretending.
Our little guy got some tools for his birthday, too. He carries the box around with him everywhere in the house. Too funny.
I'm hoping to post a freezer recipe a day so keep checking back.
I hope your move is going smoothly.
