Baby in the Bathroom

Well, a while ago I posted about Toby sleeping in the closet. I'm proud to report that I now have another baby sleeping in a weird place! Yesterday I discovered that Avery sleeps well in the bathroom downstairs with the exhaust fan running. I think she has the dreaded "C" word...colic. She's on zantac when I can get it in her. Tastes nasty! I've spent hours holding a baby who is stiff and screaming in my ears only to have her puke cottage cheese on me, let a huge diaper area bomb loose and then fall sound asleep. Ahhh, the joys of motherhood.

Hi. Thanks for stopping over at my blog. Sounds like you're pretty busy with four kiddos. I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with colic. I know I don't know you and I don't want to sound all "you should do this and that" but I just wanted to make one suggestion. Since you are nursing have you considered going off dairy? I've heard that can make a huge difference.

Lydia's baby, Cora, is on zantac, too, and has been for months. She's gotten to the place where she doesn't fight the medication now, and it seemed to keep her cries from being so hoarse. She still spits up, but not nearly as much as she did when she was younger. Keep fighting with the zantac--it may be worth the effort.

I was so sorry to read about Jim's mom, your mother-in-law. I've been praying for you guys. As for Avery, does it feel good to know what's wrong with her? Does it give you hope that after she's better from the colic, that she might be able to sleep?

Hi, thanks for stopping by my blog! Looks like you have a lot on your plate right now. I hope printing the list of noises works for Avery at least some of the time. I didn't come up with the idea, so I can't take credit or blame for it, but it does work for my baby a majority of the time. :) Let me know how it goes!

Too bad we don't live close. I too have four, ages 7 and under (the baby is 4 mos). I'm also a SAHM and there are only a few in the neighborhood. I haven't had a colicky baby, but I had two who behaved similarly due to sensory and neurological deficits.

If Avery sleeps well in the bathroom with the fan on, you might try a small fan in her room (that is, if you haven't already). My Reece (mild CP and sensory integration deficits) needed a fan and COMPLETE darkness for all naps and bedtime (NO nightlight; no, no, no).
BLessings,
